President Obama's Labor Secretary Hilda Solis is supposed to represent American workers. What you need to know is that this longtime open-borders sympathizer has always had a rather radical definition of "American." At a Latino voter registration project conference in Los Angeles many years ago, Solis asserted to thunderous applause, "We are all Americans, whether you are legalized or not."

Afghan Military Officers AWOL from Lackland AFB, whereabouts unknown

This is just great....perhaps someone should check flight schools. Perhaps they aren't wannabe terrorists, perhaps they just want to be here because American is so much better than their home country...but who knows? Perhaps once they catch an episode Desperate Housewives they'll decide we all need to die because of our debauchery. The kicker is this program has been going on for two years...and they've been dissapearing for that long.
Even the most ardent anti-big government types think (wrongly) that the only thing the government does well is the Military. It is a huge bureaucracy where the bulk of the work is done by very young people.....what could go wrong? If leadership is lacking (like apparently it is here) bad things can happen.
Seventeen Afghan military officers and enlistees have gone AWOL from a Lackland AFB language school over the past 18 months, the Air Force said Thursday.
The troops, enrolled in the Defense Language Institute English Language Center, were among 21 foreign military service personnel to go absent without leave since 2009, with one — an Iraqi — reappearing in Houston, where he sought political asylum.
Just what happened to the foreign troops isn't clear. The Air Force said the cases were given to the Department of Homeland Security once the officers and enlistees disappeared.
“They were students at the defense language school and once they complete their training at DLI they go to another assignment,” said Dave Smith, a spokesman for the Air Education and Training Command at Randolph AFB. “If they choose to leave the language school and return to their own country without telling us, they can do that. We just don't know.” STORY HERE

Final thoughts.. as I was leaving downtown to head to my humble abode, there was the paddy wagon with the SEIU faithful (in their purple SEIU shirts) handcuffed and being loaded in.
I guess I missed the fireworks but seeing SEIU thugs and wannabe thugs being thrown in jail made my day.

Reform Immigration Rally - pics, video and comment
pic of the courthouse steps- empty up until 4:10 pm. At 4:15 the sidewalk was ...well...had some protestors on it but not that many really.
If you blinked you missed it. 150 to 200 people...max on this "rally" march. They were loud and had the usual folks associated...SEIU purple was prevelant...I would not be surprised if they organized the whole thing. There were "cop watchers" in the parade which I thought was a bit odd, again the leftwing siding against the police and speaking of police, I saw more officers in uniform and plain clothes than I did demonstrators.
Shouts of "Si Se Puede" filled the streets.....yes the same slogan since 1972. This rally was a dud. A guy I work with (who is a Democrat) summed it up nicely when we walked back inside..."Pathetic". I had to agree and was glad to do so. This is not a Republican Democrat issue. This is a right and wrong issue.
1. stop the flow NOW
2. get the illegals KNOWN
3. get the criminals OUT
4. begin debate on what to do those who are here
These left wing groups will have none of that...they want amnesty now, they want no borders, they want the illegals who come from anywhere to get their economic justice....that means taking money from those who have earned more than them.
Why would a union be FOR illegal immigration? Because SEIU is at best a socialist organization bent on changing our country into a European style system, at worst a Communist organization bent on Soviet style crack downs on freedom. This is not about immigration my friends...this is about the current "societal transformation" underway and getting illegals the right to vote is the left wing's next big agenda item.

While I agree that Illegal workers drive wages down to an unfairly low level in the U.S. it is because it is an illegal act...and illegal to hire them that causes the problem. I do not believe that the a blanket amnesty plan is the answer and neither do most people in America. Most people in America both Democrat and Republican want a fence or something similar to stop the flow,,,THEN we can talk about how to document who is here and what to do with them. However, when an organization such as this wants to push socialism as a societal answer to all of life's problems I push back...hard.

Reform Immigration for America will be marching in support of immigration reform from the state capitol to the federal courthouse at 19th and Stout this afternoon. Their march is expected to end at about 4:15 p.m. While the event is expected to be peaceful, traffic congestion may occur in the vicinity of the courthouse.
The group expects 200-300 marchers, and they don't anticipate any disruption to business operations, traffic flow or light rail operations. In the unlikely event of a disruption, Grubb & Ellis plans to shut down the Stout Street parking garage exits and divert all garage traffic onto 19th Street and California Street.

A little background;
Telecommunications companies such as Qwest have had to deal with a lot more taxes and a lot more regulation than the upstarts that have come into the marketplace in the last decade...why? Because the history behind telephone service runs deep...and politicians have taxed it and regulated it at will for many decades.
Newer companies have had a greater advantage, and they've taken a huge bite out of the business of the old Telephone companies. Have you ever looked at your Qwest bill...seen how the government nickel and dimes you to death on it?
Because most telecommunications regulations and taxes were written 30 or 40 years ago they are outdated and make competition unfair. In order to compete in the market place, Qwest and other companies like them who's Telephone service is still regulated as a utility needed the laws updated....Well Bill Ritter just won't go along with that...he'd rather continue to see one of the largest employers in Colorado lay off more people.
Governor Ritter vetoed House Bill 1281 - a bill that had broad support in the legislature and represented consensus in the industry. My sources say that the Governor objected to a provision that would have classified VoIP services as non-regulated services.
In short....he wanted more regulation not less. DIA...Democrats in Action. Bye bye jobs.

I am not always a fan of Mr. Morris, but I think he is correct more often than wrong which is more than I can say for most talking heads who live in Washington DC.
His article yesterday was spot on....

Blumenthal's actual record shows he was in the US and never left during his time in the Marine Corps reserves. Contrarily he has repeatedly identified himself as a V.N. veteran.
Truthfully, he received FIVE deferments from serving OUTCONUS which is extremely unusual...obviously he knew someone who helped him avoid overseas service.
Many MSM reports say that the reserves was a common way to avoid Vietnam service. I know this may be partially true, but there were MANY reservists deployed to Vietnam. John Kerry was one of them.
Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has issued a formal apology for inaccurately portraying his military service during the Vietnam War ....
Blumenthal is under fire for saying, on several occasions, that he served in the Vietnam War when he was a Marine reservist who never left U.S. soil......
