As with everything Obama does it's about "social justice"
What do Obama's health care adviser's believe? They believe that older folks will just have to give up on some quality care so that younger folks can have it. They believe that social justice will require you to make sacrifices and you are going to have to give up the service and quality you are used to.

Returning to the enumerated powers...
This is my dream, but since the "second bill of rights" articulated by Franklin D. Roosevelt who felt the first one didn't go far enough we've come a long way. People expect the government to provide happiness, not just the right to pursue it. The further we go towards these goals, the further away from what our founders intended this country to be. Perhaps that is OK with you. It is not with me.
I heard Dennis Prager say yesterday that socialist programs only benefit people for 20 to 30 years, then they become unmanageable. Europe has discovered this, rather than learning from their mistakes, we lurch headlong over the cliff. The young people who are supporting these socialist programs are hurting themselves most of all. By the time they are my age, there won't be any money left.
The video below is a knowledgeable soldier challenging the status quo.

Anti-Tax, Anti-Fee legislation on the march in Colorado
#redco #tcot #colorado #taxorado
Three anti-tax petitions are being circulated in hopes of rolling back recently-enacted tax and fee increases at next year's election. Backers of the initiatives emphasize the grassroots nature of their endeavor, but Colorado's most prominent tax-cutting activists are at work in the background helping to shepherd the measures to the ballot.
Initiatives 10, 12 and 21 have been approved by a state panel regulating initiative titles and are in the field where volunteers are gathering signatures. Proponents say they are fed up with a series of tax increases backed by Gov. Bill Ritter and the state's Democrat-dominated legislature. Read the Rest at Face the State24 July 2009
Beligerant, Bitter, Middle Aged Black Men
Perhaps when the cops came to my house (twice in my life) when I was breaking in because I forgot my keys, instead of being calm, showing them my ID and waiting it out (embarrassed), I should have screamed at them, called them names and insinuated they were only doing this because they were racist.

Then I could get a front page story on USA Today. Oh wait, I'm not black, and I am not well-connected so I guess not, I'd just be arrested and charges would NOT be dropped.
Henry Louis Gates represents everything that is wrong with race relations in higher education in the United States today. The kind of classes he teaches only further the judging of people by the color of their skin rather than the content of their character
Mr Gates apparently also has what the Bible calls a root bitterness that he can't let go of as well as a career built around the victimization of "black men in America". I know there are racist cops, just like their are racists that work at Wal-Mart, but most aren't and this isn't one of those cases. In this case it was a classic example of a black man flying off the handle because he thinks he's being treated a certain way because he is black. When in fact, he was treated no different than anyone else would be in this circumstance. Once he flew off the handle, his pride would not let him turn around and admit he was being an idiot.
I do not say this hypocritically, I've seen bitterness creep in my own life over certain issues. We all as humans fight it, but apparently Mr. Gates is not fighting it, he is embracing it. Being bitter is not a "right", it is a poison both for the person keeping it and for society. But Mr. Gates isn't just bitter, he has a career built on "race relations"....something most people don't give a second thought to. But Mr. Gates has always been this way;
From Henry Louis "Skip" Gates, on his Harvard application:
"As always, whitey now sits in judgment of me, preparing to cast my fate. It is your decision either to let me blow with the wind as a nonentity or to encourage the development of self. Allow me to prove myself."He's grown older and supposedly more educated, but the chip on his shoulder is just as big today as it was when he was an arrogant snot-nosed kid. From Holy Coast
Mr. Gates makes his living on this bitterness. His classes, his books are all about race. His whole life is built up around the idea that "the system" "the man" is still against him...and his "race". This incident revealed what was his heart...anger, bitterness, and assuming the worst of people who aren't like him. In other words he has become what he loathes.
Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled.
Ephesians 4:31Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
I had a friend say to me this is an "ignorant article" and perhaps in certain ways it is, but actually this is not an article. It is a personal blog post from the Christian spiritual perspective from a guy who has lived in the southern and western parts of the US. I was raised to judge each according to his character and actions, not anything else. Perhaps my ignorance is to expect others to do the same.
If you feel that is ignorant, I challenge you to read the Bible again, or for the first time and do it with an open mind. God's Spirit gives answers to the world's woes like racism and bitterness and only through the savior described in its pages can real peace be found.

Government Broken? It isn't working the way the founders intended that's for sure.
I and others like me have been criticized for using the word "socialist" to describe the direction America has taken but there is no other word for it unless you want to call it Marxist. However the soldiers aren't manning the barricades just yet so we will use the former. Leveeing high taxes doesn't make the government socialist, it makes it tyrannical or despotic, but it is how it pays for its socialist programs.
Here are some sobering facts from an article by Pat Buchanan this week.
Obama's first budget will consume 28 percent of the entire GDP; state and local governments another 15 percent. While there is some overlap, in 2009, government will consume 40 percent of GDP, approaching the peak of World War II. (empasis mine)
The deficit for 2009 is $1.8 trillion, 13 percent of the whole economy. Obama is pushing a cap-and-trade bill to cut carbon emissions that will impose huge costs on energy production, spike consumer prices and drive production offshore to China, which is opting out of Kyoto II. The Chinese are not fools. Apparently we are.
Obama plans to repeal the Bush tax cuts and take the income tax rate to near 40 percent. Combined state and local income tax rates can run to 10 percent. For the self employed, payroll taxes add up to 15.2 percent on the first $106,800 for all wages of all workers. Medicare takes 2.9 percent of all wages above that. Then there are the state sales taxes that can run to 8 percent, property taxes, gas taxes, excise taxes and "sin taxes" on booze, cigarettes and, soon, hot dogs and soft drinks.
Now on the doorstep is nationalized healthcare, to be paid for with guess what...more taxes. Then comes the carbon tax based on environmental extremists (who are anti-capitalists and pro marxists) claims we are all going to die if we keep eating beef and driving cars...to be paid for with..of course taxes on any company that produces carbon...hitting energy producers the hardest. I knew that Obama would over reach, but I had no idea he would actually succeed at moving us off the cliff so far we could not recover. Now I am watching it happen.
Pat continues;
While the hardest-working and most productive are bled, a third of all wage-earners pay no U.S. income tax, and Obama plans to free almost half of all wage-earners of all income taxes. Yet, tens of millions get Medicaid, rent supplements, free education, food stamps, welfare and an annual check from Uncle Sam called an Earned Income Tax Credit, though they never paid a nickel in income taxes. Oh, yes. Obama also promises everybody a college education. Emphasis mine. Read the rest
I've never been an alarmist folks, I didn't fall for y2k, but this is a tsunami of proportions that will destroy this country as we know it, we have become that which we fought against, a socialist nation who takes from those who produce, gives to those who do not.
Our founding fathers believed that there a few God given rights the government should make sure its people can secure most specifically...life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Our current government believes you don't just have the right to pursue it, but you actually have the right to happiness itself and they are going to provide to you whether you want them to or not.
And they will provide it by taking it from those who have worked for it themselves and giving it to those who have not. More "rights" are being added each day to the litany of responsibilities socialists want to have OVER your life , there's the human right to health care, human right to internet access, human right to a "living wage" even for grocery store bag boys, a human right to get a job even if you don't qualify for it...where does it stop? A right to a clean bathroom, a right to not be offended, a right to never be hurt, a right to a good marriage, a right to a God made in my own image?
If you are on the "taking" side of this equation, you are swinging the hammer of destruction on the greatest country in the world. Perhaps this is God's plan for our country, we got too big for our britches and started bragging about how "WE" did it, so God is showing us it was HIM that blessed us with the wisdom to build a free country, he can remove that blessing and boom...we are all stupid.
from Powerlineblog; At each stage, in consequence, our civic associations have also become less vigorous. And since the 1960s, as the federal government assumed a providential role, religion in American gradually lost its hold, and the social institutions through which individuals in the past managed their lives deteriorated. Divorce became commonplace; the birth rate dropped dramatically; and a growing proportion of the children brought into the world came to be born out of wedlock. In the world of social security and welfare, human beings tend to go it alone.
We are now, in effect, without the shield that we protected us from fully falling prey to inquiétude in Tocqueville's day, and, as Rahm Emanuel has openly acknowledged, the Obama administration is now intent on exploiting our present difficulties for the purpose of radically extending the scope of the administrative state. "You don't ever want a crisis to go to waste," he candidly remarked. "it's an opportunity to do important things that you would otherwise avoid." READ THE REST

Both men could now of course be deported but it is too late for the driver minding his own business. This accident happened right where I used to live so this hits very close to home. Democrat or Republican, we should be removing all incumbent elected officials who show no action on this issue.
A car race about 10 p.m. Tuesday on the streets of Aurora ended in a severe accident that killed an innocent driver, said Lt. Chuck DeShazer, spokesman for Aurora police.
"It was in the top five worst accidents I've ever seen," DeShazer said. "It was probably closer to No. 1 or No. 2."
The two men involved in the race, Benny Sitinjak, 34, and Jose Hernandez-Castellanos, 28, have been charged with Class 3 vehicular homicide and each is being held on a $50,000 bond, DeShazer said.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a detainer on both men, DeShazer said.

'often wrong, but never in doubt.' Dr. John Holdren, Obama's Science Fiction Czar
Having a gullible, politically motivated scientist in charge of the White House Office of Science and Technology sounds downright scary, but that is exactly who Obama has put in charge.
David Harsanyi's article this week points out correctly that Dr. John Holdren has wrongly fallen for nearly every "EOTWAWKI"** scenario since the early 70's. Not only that, he has used it to manipulate people, including advocating some rather evil practices.
Here are some excerpts from Obama's Science Fiction Czar;
you can read excerpts from a hard-to-find book co-authored by Holdren in the late 1970s, called "Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment," online.
In it, you will find the czar wading into some unpleasant talk about mass sterilizations and abortions.
In the book, you find that Holdren and his co-authors believed strongly that "global cooling" was an impending disaster as were having too many people on the planet. Now of course he has tempered that forced sterilization thing a bit, but still advocates government telling us to have less children...and of course man made global warming.Holdren was asked about his penchant for scientific overstatements, he responded that "the motivation for looking at the downside possibilities, the possibilities that can go wrong if things continue in a bad direction, is to motivate people to change direction. That was my intention at the time."
"Motivation" is when Holdren tells us that global warming could cause the deaths of 1 billion people by 2020. Or when he claimed that sea levels could rise by 13 feet by the end of this century when your run-of-the-mill alarmist warns of only 13 inches.

Ed Perlmutter - sending money to family
How long did it take my Representative to become corrupt once he hit Washington? Who knows but what we do know is Ed Perlmutter is no "man of the people" he's a man of big government and big financial influence.
Why do I say that?
1. Ed Perlmutter supports Cap and Tax, the largest tax increase in US history designed to tax Carbon output, one of the most tone deaf and economy destroying ideas ever. How do I know this...he wrote me and told me so after I wrote him and begged him not to sign such a law.
2. Revealed TODAY; Rep. Ed Perlmutter inserted a provision into the recently passed House climate change bill that would drum up business for "green" banks, such as the one he has invested in and his family and a political donor helped found in San Francisco. Emphasis mine
Apparently the Bank Called New Resource Bank is also a bit of hot water.
David Haransyi of the Denver Post just wrote an article on it too.
According to the House Ethics Manual’s guidance on outside employment and income: “Although the term ‘conflict of interest’ may be subject to various interpretations in general usage, under federal law and regulation, this term ‘is limited in meaning; it denotes a situation in which an official’s conduct of his office conflicts with his private economic affairs.’ The ultimate concern ‘is risk of impairment of impartial judgment, a risk which arrises whenever there is a temptation to serve personal interests.’ ”
The Times Continues;New Resource also lists Deana Perlmutter, the congressman's former spouse, and his father, Leonard Perlmutter, among those who have invested "seed capital and effort" to get the venture off the ground, according to the bank's Web site.
Mr. Perlmutter's sponsorship of the GREEN Act given his financial stake in the bank raises ethical questions. SOURCE Washington Times

The Truth About Canadian Single Payer Universal Health Care - FIRST HAND!
Crowder does a great job and gave the Canadian system a fighting chance to show its true colors...and it did.
Grasp of basic economics not seen in this administration
Just one of soon to be many victims of the Obama tax increases;
experpted from GrantsRants
Hav-A-Tampa Cigar Company(located in the Tampa neighborhood known as Ybor City) announced it has no other choice but to close its factory leaving its 500 workers unemployed, all due to the 700% tax increase levied with the passage of the S-CHIP legislation.
Now before all you non-smokers smirk and and celebrate, let me paraphrase Martin Niemöller:
“When they came for the tobacco users, I remained silent, because I don’t smoke.”
Once the tobacco industry has been wiped out in this country, what makes you think for a moment Obama and his bunch of grinning idiots won’t go after a hefty tax on soft drinks, candy bars, beer, wine, ice cream and snack foods? After all, these are all ”weapons of ass destruction” in the war on obesity are they not?
If a business has to raise the federal tax on its product by 700%, customers will simply give up the product. In the case of Hav-A-Tampa cigars, these were cigars for the average working man: high quality and, most important, affordable to those on a tight budget. But no more. Most of their customers will simply have to stop smoking cigars. That’s exactly what’s happening now, and the parent company of Hav-A-Tampa, J.C. Newman, has done the math. They’re finished in Tampa. Not because of the prolonged recession. They made it through 2 World Wars and a depression. But they can’t survive the Obama administration. So they will re-locate their cigar production, out of necessity, to an off-shore location where lower wages will help make up the difference, leaving 500 more skilled workers unemployed in Tampa. Wheatridge High - Man dumps camper sewage down storm drain
hat tip to Complete Colorado
This is one of those stories that makes you angry that someone is this stupid and/or uncaring about the community.
Do you know this man, or this camper? Anyone with information regarding the identity of the man pictured in the photo is asked to contact the Wheat Ridge Police Department at 303-237-2220.

Wheat Ridge residents were angered to learn Wednesday that a man drove his camper pickup into the high school parking lot and dumped raw sewage down the storm drain. That drain emptied into a retention pond just a few feet away from the school's soccer fields.
Ironically, he could have dumped his sewage a few blocks down 44th Ave for $10. When/if he is caught, this could end up costing him over a 1/4 million dollars. FULL STORY AND VIDEO HERE

Ritter report card - how is he doing?
Face the State has a good report on the ever growing Ritter administration's "Colorado Promise". Hat tip to Complete Colorado
A few highlights (or low lights)
During the state's hiring freeze, in effect from October 2008 through April, the state realized a net gain of 511 employees. Senate Republicans estimate at least 2,500 employees have been added to the state payroll under Ritter's watch. Recently, the governor came under harsh criticism for hiring Don Elliman as the state's first Chief Operating Officer, as well as bringing on a minority outreach coordinator, an $80,0000 position for which the funding source is "unclear."
The Colorado Promise states Ritter would "Institut[e] state government performance and financial reviews that have generated savings of as much as 6 percent in other states." In the 2009 legislative session, Ritter worked with lawmakers to pass Senate Bill 228, a repeal of the 6 percent growth cap on general state spending. After signing the bill, which was opposed by budget hawks who said it would grow the size of government, Ritter said it was key to giving Colorado lawmakers more flexibility to manage the budget and to make “wiser investments with existing resources.”
Ritter led fellow Democrat lawmakers and the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission on the creation and implementation of strict oil and gas regulations that faced bipartisan opposition. Rural legislators are especially critical of the new rules, saying they are likely to cause increased utility rates and decreased oil and gas production across the state.
Rep. Laura Bradford, R-Grand Junction. "If this is his idea of promoting alternative energy, he has done it by throwing the baby out with the bathwater by making the state so unfriendly to the oil and gas industry."
Last November, Ritter backed a ballot initiative, Amendment 58, that would increase the state's severance tax, raising the cost of energy for both producers and consumers. It was rejected by nearly 58 percent of voters.

To anyone who thinks the Tea Party Movement is partisan - watch this
Senator Cornyn is being booed off the stage by Tea Party goers. Malkin says she isn't voting for ONE SINGLE incumbant. I second the motion.
Palin's Quitting - my view
Just my two cents on the matter. I've never quite understood why people hate her so much but regardless, she was NEVER a normal politician. She was a mom with a ton of common sense and impressive outdoor skills. She was smart enough to make good decisions, not waste money and say no to cronyism.
When I saw her quit this weekend, she looked tired, out of sorts and seemed to now believe it just isn't worth it because of the attacks on her family and the state she loves.
She's a mom first and foremost and to have her daughters called whores, her downs syndrome child called a mistake, her husband called a buffoon, over and over again and worse, to have to spend her time defending herself against untrue and false accusations constantly she got tired and she quit, perhaps a mistake, but so what.
Her family is over a half million dollars in debt now because of these frivolous lawsuits...perhaps she also needs the money. Unlike Great Britain, in the US you can sue people and not have to pay their legal fees if you lose. That isn't likely to change with the current bozos employed on Capital Hill either.
Suing basically is free, defending oneself costs millions.Congratulations to the left, to the Democrats who unleashed hell upon her. You won, you knocked her down, out of the race. Great. If you feel good about it, you are a damaged soul and need counseling, perhaps with a two by four.
She was never a viable candidate for Presidency because she was not slick, she was short on ideas in a few areas, and because there were too many Republicans that also hated her for some reason. The media successfully demonized her to the general public, and Sarah didn't help herself enough when given the chance.
She answered questions and talked like a normal person would, unfortunately a normal person can't win the most powerful job in the world. That person must be able to communicate extra-ordinarily, she could not, she does not.
Had she ran, she would have been beaten in the primary. She can't run now because she will labeled a quitter (and rightly so.) We will hear from her again but it will not be as a Presidential candidate...that's my two.
Barriers to success, in America says:
Here are lessons of the Sarah Palin experience, for any aspiring politician who shares her background and her sex. Your children will go through the tabloid wringer. Your religion will be mocked and misrepresented. Your political record will be distorted, to better parody your family and your faith. (And no, gentle reader, Palin did not insist on abstinence-only sex education, slash funds for special-needs children or inject creationism into public schools.)
Male commentators will attack you for parading your children. Female commentators will attack you for not staying home with them. You’ll be sneered at for how you talk and how many colleges you attended. You’ll endure gibes about your “slutty” looks and your “white trash concupiscence,” while a prominent female academic declares that your “greatest hypocrisy” is the “pretense” that you’re a woman. And eight months after the election, the professionals who pressed you into the service of a gimmicky, dreary, idea-free campaign will still be blaming you for their defeat.
All of this had something to do with ordinary partisan politics. But it had everything to do with Palin’s gender and her social class.
Sarah Palin is beloved by millions because her rise suggested, however temporarily, that the old American aphorism about how anyone can grow up to be president might actually be true.

Obama Quote of the Morning
“I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes” "you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime." (September 12, 2008, Dover, NH)
If Cap and Trade Passes the Senate;
The Wall Street Journal reports:
The Congressional Budget Office… estimates that the price hikes from a 15% cut in emissions would cost the average household in the bottom-income quintile about 3.3% of its after-tax income every year. That’s about $680, not including the costs of reduced employment and output. The three middle quintiles would see their paychecks cut between $880 and $1,500, or 2.9% to 2.7% of income. The rich would pay 1.7%. Cap and trade is the ideal policy for every Beltway analyst who thinks the tax code is too progressive (all 5 of them).
Then there is the cost of socialized medicine (which has a much better chance of becoming law than cap and tax).
Washington politicians are pushing us toward more socialized medicine at an estimated minimum cost of $1.17 trillion over the next 10 years - more than $100 million a year for 10 years. Remember, this is the minimum estimate. When is the last time a government project was completed with the amount of money originally estimated?
Another way to look at it is that it will cost $326 for every man, woman, and child in the country - over $1,300 a year for a family of four. READ THE REST at the Democrat
