How Many 90 Year Olds Could You Take in a Fight?

Describing the impassioned speach of Rod Blagojevich.

"He (Rod Blagojevich" truly believes that his amoral approach to public policy, the shakedowns, the threats, the posturing, the relentless spin, was all perfectly acceptable because it was done in furtherance of an agenda of pure beneficence."

John Carter Intruduces the Rangel Rule

Rep. John Carter, a Texas Republican, sent out a press release earlier today about his innovative new bill:

"Rangel Rule"

All U.S. taxpayers would enjoy the same immunity from IRS penalties and interest as House Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel (D-NY) and Obama Administration Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, if a bill introduced today by Congressman John Carter (R-TX) becomes law.

Carter, a former longtime Texas judge, today introduced the Rangel Rule Act of 2009, HR 735, which would prohibit the Internal Revenue Service from charging penalties and interest on back taxes against U.S. citizens. Under the proposed law, any taxpayer who wrote “Rangel Rule” on their return when paying back taxes would be immune from penalties and interest.

More less than stimulating items in the Stimulus Package

So far the Democrats have been using their influence to once again send pet pork to grateful special interest groups and projects...where's the "change" huh? This is business as usual.

The President is trying to woo the GOP by listening to their complaints about these things and so far only two have been removed...money for Contraception, and now Millions for the Washington Mall.
...time for the Republicans and their constituents to put the pedal to the metal. Keep up the pressure, this is not supposed to be a pork package, it a stimulus bill and besides being a horrible idea to borrow more money to stimulate the economy (an idea that got us in the mess in the first place,) now they are including things that have nothing to do with stimulating the economy. And of course those proposing the ideas are the very ones that caused this mess to begin with.

Don't let them fool you, this was not caused by unrestrained Capitalism...we don't have that in America. It was caused by Government mettling in Banking affairs, making it attractive for them to make bad loans to perform a social experiment.

From HolyCoast.com

Next should be the money for ACORN. Those funds are designed for only one purpose: Pay off organizations that spend their time as Dem street workers. There's nothing about ACORN funding that will stimulate the economy. The GOP needs to keep identifying non-stimulus spending and shining the light on it. The Dems obviously are desperate for GOP votes given the way they are caving on these other items.

And while they're at it, there's no reason to approve $75 million for smoking cessation. Again, not a measure that will stimulate the economy.

UPDATE: What about $335 million for STD prevention? Again, doesn't belong in this bill.

I'm beginning to think that the Senate Republicans need to filibuster this bill until all these stupid non-stimulus provisions can be identified and removed. Read the rest

Pepsico Alienates Majority of America and Canada with Homosexual Ads

Pepsi is now using its TV spots to promote the gay lifestyle. The American Family Association respectfully asked Pepsi to remain neutral in the culture war. Pepsi refused. The company said it will continue major financial support of homosexual organizations seeking to legalize homosexual marriage.

Pepsi gave $500,000 to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the largest and most powerful gay lobbying group in America. The company also gave $500,000 to Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). The total gift of $1,000,000 to the two homosexual activist groups was to help promote the gay lifestyle in the workplace.

Estimates are that between .5 and 1.9% of the populuation are homosexual yet we target market using the gay and lesbian lifestyle? What kind of moron came up with this idea? If I owned Pepsi stock I'd be selling it now unless they fired that guy/gal that came up with that stupid idea. MORE HERE

Bank Execs Keep Their Jobs After Miserable Failure

The AP's review reveals one of the ironies of the bank bailout: The same executives who were at the controls as the banking system nearly collapsed are the ones the government is counting on to help save it.

Even top executives whose banks made such risky loans they imperiled the economy have been largely spared any threat to their jobs, as Washington pumped billions in taxpayer money into the companies. Less fortunate are more than 100,000 bank employees laid off during a two-year stretch when industry unemployment nearly tripled, bank stocks plummeted and credit dried up

Global warming 'irreversible' for next 1000 years: study

NOAA senior scientist Susan Solomon said the study, published in this week's Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal, showed that current human choices on carbon dioxide emissions are set to "irreversibly change the planet."

Researchers examined the consequences of CO2 building up beyond present-day concentrations of 385 parts per million, and then completely stopping emissions after the peak. Before the industrial age CO2 in Earth's atmosphere amounted to only 280 parts per million.

The study found that CO2 levels are irreversibly impacting climate change, which will contribute to global sea level rise and rainfall changes in certain regions.

The authors emphasized that increases in CO2 that occur from 2000 to 2100 are set to "lock in" a sea level rise over the next 1,000 years.

Give up now, we are all gonna die and it's our fault we progressed, we invented and we made life easier for our fellow humans. Read the rest if you can stomach it.

Pelosi Abortion Stimulus Package

Democrats gone wild...they are in charge now and I say again, anyone who did not vote for McCain Palin and is a Christian I do not understand how you chose to ignore the fact that Obama is not just pro-choice, he is pro-abortion.

If you believe in Obama and Pelosi's pro-abortion (babies are punishment) stance than you should be happy here. However if more poor and uneducated are aborted, wont' the Democrats be shrinking their voting block? These people apparently don't just think you should have the choice to kill your unborn child but that it is a good thing to help stimulate the economy!!

update below, Obama wants Pelosi's part taken out of bill.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Defends Abortion Industry Bailout in Stimulus Bill

As LifeNews.com is reporting today, the Democrats' stimulus plan now includes a measure to send more public funds to the Planned Parenthood abortion business to fund contraception and birth control.

Specifically, a provision in the legislation clears the way for expanded federal funding of contraceptives through Medicaid for those who aren't even poor.

In an interview with George Stephanopoulos Sunday morning on ABC's "This Week," Pelosi boldly defended a move to add funding for the abortion business in the economic package.

"Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?" the ABC News host asked.

"Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs," the top Democrat responded. READ THE REST

USA Today has an article on it in their religion section too.

UPDATE, OBAMA backs down from Pelosi's pet project to send millions to Planned Parenthood.

Malkin; Goody. Panicky President Obama wants the Dems to eliminate Pelosi’s pet contraceptive funding from the Generational Theft Act of 2009. Only $800 billion more in needless, unstimulating stimulus spending to kill.

Democrats kill bill requring an ID to vote in Colorado

Fellow RMA blogger Joshua Sharf wrote on this yesterday and I didn't see it until this morning. Apparently the Dems are once again afraid they will lose a voting block...people who can't get an ID!!!

This makes me so mad I can't stand it. I've had a picture ID since I was 15 and I am 45 now. AND YES, I've had my wallet stolen before and had to get a new one. AND yes I've had to get a new birth certificate so I could get a photo ID.

Don't let the Democrats fool you, this is about helping people who are flying below the radar to vote. If it is too difficult to get a photo ID when your wallet is stolen because you don't have a photo ID, then fix that. Making it easier to commit voting fraud is apparently the default Liberal Democrat modus operandi.

It is illegal to walk around in public without a photo ID but the Dems want you to be able to vote without one. ....WHY IS THAT?

We Don't Need No Stinkin' Badges!

On a straight party-line vote, the State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee, just voted down a bill that would have required a photo ID for voting in Colorado.

The arguments opposed were presented by the usual suspects, arguing an undue burden on those who might not be able to obtain a photo id. The fact is, this problem affects a vanishingly small portion of the population, in large part because of the wide variety of supplemental documents that can be used to obtain a driver's license or a state ID.

In part because of the forgone nature of the vote, the Republicans on the committee did a fairly poor job of going after the opponents of the bill, READ THE REST

Colorado Dems look For New Revenue Streams (taxes)

DENVER - Nestled in the details of a major transportation proposal this year is an idea that could revolutionize how Colorado pays for its road and bridge projects.

The proposal, from statehouse Democrats, calls for pilot projects to study whether the state should do away with its gas tax and adopt a system in which drivers are charged based on how many miles they drive.

"What policymakers are looking at is a sustainable revenue source that they can count on," said Jim Whitty, an Oregon Department of Transportation official who has become a guru of mileage-based fees.

States across the country are struggling with the weakening of the gas tax as a revenue stream, due to more fuel-efficient vehicles and the political difficulty of raising taxes to keep up with inflation. Colorado is one of several states, including Florida, North Carolina and Ohio, looking at implementing a mileage-based charge on drivers. READ THE REST AT 9NEWS

For some this may seem like a good thing (like me I don't drive much) but this is another attempt to keep the taxes flowing in because people now have more fuel efficient cars (or will.) And just how will they keep track of mileage, install a device? When do you pay at tax time instead of at the pump?
What say you?

President Does Not Attend Medal of Honor Ball, VP does attend however

For the first time in 56 years, a newly-inaugurated president did not attend the ball begun by President Eisenhower for MOH recipients. 14 presidents later, here we are.

FORTY-EIGHT MoH recipients were in attendance. That's HALF of the recipients that are still alive, and pretty much all that were physically able to attend. They sacrificed to be there...to say nothing of the sacrifice they already endured.

Read the rest at BlackFIVE

I did get an email an Obama supporter reminding me that the VP did attend, and to be fair, I should mention that and well as that the new POTUS also did pledge to support the troops that night at the inaugural ball.

Obamathon Day 1

Obama Immediately moves to placate Homosexual Lobby (a special interest group) and Puts Gay Rights Front & Center

On the revamped White House website, the new administration put gay rights front and center. After an introduction from a 2007 speech on civil rights in general, the site targets employment discrimination--with a shoutout "to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity or expression."

Obama’s quick action on gay rights did not go unnoticed by the right. World Net Daily had a "news story" that complained mightily about the rapid change: "President Obama had not even finished his inaugural address today before his agenda was posted on the WhiteHouse website, where he promised to ’overturn’ the Supreme Court’s precedents on discrimination claims and to demand new laws requiring employers to provide special protections for homosexuals and others with ’gender’ issues. Quote of the Month

I was reading one of my favorite bloggers this morning and he mentioned a bumper sticker a middle aged Russian/American woman had on her car during the election that said “Freedom vs. Socialism - November 4, 2008.”

Last week, Barack Obama said this;

“Only government can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift us from a recession this deep and severe. Only government can break the vicious cycles that are crippling our economy.”- President-Elect Barack Obama (via Churchill's Parrot)

I wonder if he really believes this, or if this is just a political move to gain the trust of those who have placed their faith in him...he must know that it is the government's overreaching social experiment of "getting every American into a home" that set this mess into motion. .....nah it was the free market...all those greedy businessmen, they are way more evil than ordinary Americans who are all saints..........

Plane Crash

A US Airways jet crashed Thursday in the Hudson River in New York City after a flock of birds struck its engines, but everyone aboard survived.

Passengers were sent fleeing into the icy waters when the Airbus 320 went down shortly after takeoff near 48th Street in Manhattan.

Two of the jet's engines were hit by a flock of birds, according to government officials. The Federal Aviation Administration said everyone on board survived and was off the plane.

"There were eyewitness reports the plane may have flown into a flock of birds," said FAA spokeswoman Laura Brown. "Right now we don't have any indication this was anything other than an accident."

Most of the passengers were quarantined at the New York City ferry terminal at 42nd Street, though at least two were taken away on stretchers. It wasn't known how many were hurt, though no serious injuries were reported. LINK

Yon:During my trip to Washington, D.C., I had a chance to catch up on some matters neglected while I was overseas. My attorney may have to file a lawsuit against Mr. Michael Moore. In May we contacted Mr. Moore, through his counsel, about Mr. Moore’s unauthorized use of my work on his website. He did not respond. My attorney has written again. If Mr. Moore and his counsel continue to ignore our correspondence, we will proceed with a lawsuit.

This lawsuit, though, should not be a distraction from combat reporting; the proceedings should be easy and require almost zero hands-on work from me. But it will be potentially costly. I’ve never sued anyone in my life. Looks like Mr. Moore might be the first. READ THE REST

Mile High City Gridlock

I work in downtown Denver, and take public transportation as a way to save dough..parking adds up. Because I live in the north end of town..there are no trains, only buses and in my neck of the woods the routes do not even belong to RTD, they are leased to lesser companies...

When it snows, you never know what is going to happen but we are a one car family at the moment so I had no choice...I take the Express (RTD uses the term loosely) Bus and normally it makes a 15-20 minute drive about 30 minutes, so not bad.

Today however we were surprised by snow, it was not predicted to be any more than an inch or two, and when I checked it last night, they said it would not hit until this afternoon. We woke to this;

Wife drops me at the bus station to catch the 7:15...no show...no problem it'll be along soon...HA, at 8:30 I decide to take the cross town bus that stops every other block...at least it's running.
Moving along pretty well but about 2 miles from work the bus gets stuck behind cars thatcan't make it up a hill...we sit and sit and sit and my bladder is starting to talk to me..."hey remember me, that cup of coffee, that big glass of water?"

Finally at 10:00 I start walking, stop at the next place I can to pee and make it to work 3 hours from when I first got to the bus station. I hate RTD...I know if you live in an area where there are trains, you got to work..and probably almost on time....we don't have that luxury in Arvada.

Palin Derangement Syndrome (PDS) Continues

From the apparent left wing rag, The Alaska Daily News via RedState - Here is the smear courtesy of the London Telegraph (not linked);

An Alaska drug investigator and the union representing Alaska State Troopers are alleging political meddling in the Sherry Johnston drug case, including a delay in serving the search warrant until after the November election.
Johnston is the mother of Levi Johnston, who became known in September when Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, announced their teenage daughter Bristol was pregnant and Levi Johnston was the father.

The Anchorage-based newspaper built its story on some pretty shaky ground - an e-mail sent by troopers drug investigator Kyle Young to members of the Public Safety Employees Association, which is the union that represents troopers.

And the media ran with it - to the tune of 417 articles on a Google news search of the terms ‘Kyle Young and Sarah Palin’ this morning. Coverage of this unsubstantiated allegation can be seen at MSNBC, CBS News, the New York Times, Newsday, the Washington Post, USA Today, and the Dallas Morning News, mostly via the tabloid liberal news agency known as the Associated Press. And that is just to name a few.

The Alaska Daily News started this chain of events based on a false story written by a reporter who failed to get solid confirmation, like they teach in JOUR 101. His editor approved the story, and if there was any editorial board to review the editor’s decision, it was asleep at the wheel. The bogus article went to press and got published. AP, which never turns down anything which might be harmful to Sarah Palin, jumped on the story, and from there hundreds of drive-by media outlets spread the lie.

In its update, ADN pointed the finger of blame at the union and the LE agencies who handled the case. It didso without printing a retraction or an apology to the parties who were damaged by its sloppy “reporting” and anti-Palin attitude.

The damage has been done. Mission accomplished, troopers union and biased media. The shame of it all is the parties responsible for this travesty will most likely sleep well tonight. They have no shame, no intellectual honesty and no professional ethics. A pox on all their houses.

UN School Used by Terrorists As a Weapons Dump

Middle East Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 9:52:12 am PST
The UN and the mainstream media are wailing and accusing Israel of war crimes (yes, again) after the IDF returned fire at a UN school from which Palestinians were firing mortars.
The explosives and booby traps installed in the school by Hamas then blew up, killing dozens of people.

And the world of course blames Israel.

30 reported killed in blast at UN school.

At least thirty people were reportedly killed and 53 wounded in an explosion in a UN-run school in the town of Jabalya in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinians. The IDF issued a statement saying the school grounds were used by terrorists to fire mortar shells at the troops.
The infantrymen returned mortar shell fire into the school grounds, the army said. Defense officials told The Associated Press that booby-trapped bombs in the school triggered the secondary explosions which killed scores of Palestinians on the site.
In 2007, the IAF actually filmed some of these terrorists at a Gaza school, firing mortars into Israel. Hat tip LGF

Prius Owners Have Home Generators

Prius owners looked pretty dern smart during the 4 doll hair a gallon run over the summer. These days I speed past them laughing in my cross-over GM vehicle that gets 18 mpg..maybe. But I am sure they will have the last laugh.
But now I have learned about a real good reason to own one, they can double as a generator for your house.

The New York Times wrote about this a year ago. The battery in the Prius is able to provide an uninterrupted power supply as long as the engine turns on and off periodically to recharge it. Any car battery can be used this way, but only hybrids start automatically when they need to recharge their battery. As long as the Prius has enough fuel, it can produce three kilowatts of continuous power. That's enough to maintain the basic household electrical needs. READ THE REST
