Independence Institute Founders Dinner - ReLoad

Last night's 2I fundraiser dinner was a pick me up for otherwise discouraged free market thinking conservatives. It was an evening of laughs (Caldara is always funny...especially when he's being cruel to Mike Rosen). It was an evening of licking our wounds and an evening of....dare I say it?....HOPE.

Michelle Malkin was the keynote speaker. She isn't a greatly polished motivational speaker which is actually refreshing, but she did really well. She talked about how the GOP can gain ripe new voters (with real examples) without compromising our principles, and how we can take those who are in the party who like to compromise our principles and show them the door.

Our Local Blogging Aggregate The People's Press Collective got honorable mention from Michelle which was great...and we got a picture taken with her. This isnt' all of us in the collective, just the few that were at the dinner.
Mount Virtus has a report as well.

The Democrats pretend to be conservative when they are running, but they are not compromising their principles afterwards...you know their principle that says all ideas that Bush came up with are wrong no matter what the idea? They plan on ousting Ken Salazar because he actually agreed with Bush a couple of times.....and Salazar votes with his party 99% of the time.
The frustrating thing for conservatives is we know they are pretending to be moderate when they run, and every few election cycles the "uneducated undecideds" believe them.

I am not saying we copy Democrats and kill our own if they disagree with us 1% of the time but I am saying that we should not compromise on issues of Life, Fiscal Responsibility and Low Taxes (McCain said the Bush Tax cuts were aimed at the wealthy and opposed them.)

The Republicans compromised on all these issues in the last year (with the exception of the life issue, Bush was great on that) and look what it got us.
