I thought this was worth posting, since I am about to deployed to a carrier. Funny thing is most people don't know what to say when you tell them you are being deployed. They say; I'm sorry (I say I'm not!), they say wow, that sucks (I say, it might, but it might not) , they say "at least you aren't going somewhere dangerous".....to this I usually chuckle.
I am not a combat soldier, so no matter where I go it is less dangerous than than confronting the enemy face to face. But an aircraft carrier is dangerous, every day, all the time. We train all the time for man overboard, General Quarters, Fire fighting and chemical attack. Why? because fire happens, accidents happen and sailors on the deck of an aircraft carrier get extra pay because it is so dangerous. No I am not a deck sailor, but take a look at this video.
