My alma mater...the Aurora Public School system (which stunk when I was in it 20 years ago) is finally realizing they need an overhaul. Too bad they've churned out so many under educated children who may never recover already.
Denver Post Article describes some of the issues, but as you read the article, they don't take much of the blame...they blame it on.....poverty. They don't blame it on bad curriculum or any deficiency in the teaching environment of course. Parents involved in public charter schools generally believe it is curriculum and parent involvment.....not poverty.
I don't blame schools completely, parents who care can work through a lot, but I've also been a victim of bad elementary schools that ruined one of my children's learning potential for nearly all of his childhood and even now that he is an adult, he is deficient because of it.
While all this happens of course, the Democrats who love the money they get from the status quo Teacher's unions want to keep everything just the way it is and stifle any kind of real change that works.
